ISTU 2009 - Aix en Provence

Around 100 works of art from these two major artists will be exhibited at the Musée Granet of Aix-en-Provence; paintings, but also drawings, watercolors, engravings or sculptures.

This exhibition underlines the influence of the Provencal painter on the Spanish master, highlighting intimate parts of his life.

Divided into four parts, this exhibition will give you the opportunity to admire and compare their respective works:

“Picasso collects Cezanne” presents three of Cezanne’s masterpieces owned by Picasso, an expert and well-informed collector
“Picasso watches Cezanne” is devoted to the influences Picasso took from Cezanne from his arrival in Paris until the end of the cubism
“Shared themes and shapes” underlines the objects, situations and styles that inspired both men
“Picasso moves closer to Cézanne” displays masterpieces from the period Picasso spent to the Vauvenargues Castle
This exceptional exhibition brings together works from various private and public collections from across the world (France, Germany, Great Britain, Swiss, United States, Netherlands, Denmark, Japan…)
